Waste Site (Randomization mode)
Waste Site settings control how a study records the reason when investigational product (IP) held at a site is no longer usable — for example, because it is damaged, expired, or lost.
Recording and managing site-level waste transactions as a dedicated workflow is not yet available in ClinicalDataS. The reason-collection settings below can be configured today; this page will be updated when a waste-recording workflow ships.
Configuration
Reason collection for site-level waste is part of the Physical Inventory at Sites settings. Study Administrator and System Administrator configure it under IMP Setup → Physical Inventory at Sites → Collect Wasted Reason for Site, available once Physical Inventory at Sites is enabled.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Collect Reason | Whether a reason must be captured — Required, Optional, or Not used |
| Title | Label displayed for the reason field (set when Collect Reason is not Not used) |
| Data type | Input used to capture the reason — Text field, Text area, Radio, or Checkbox |
| Reasons | Fixed list of selectable reasons (label and code), configured only when Data type is Radio or Checkbox |
Site-level reason collection is configured independently from the warehouse-level settings on Waste Warehouse — each has its own label, data type, and reason list.
- Who Can Configure: Study Administrator, System Administrator
- Study Status Requirements:
- Edit Allowed: Study in Design status
- Read-Only: Study in Available or Frozen status
For the full permission list, see the Permission Matrix.
Reviewing Damage Data
IP marked as damaged through existing IMP workflows — for example, a return received with a shipping discrepancy, or a dispense reported as damaged — can be reviewed in the Damaged report.
Navigate: IMP → Report → Damaged
The report lists each damaged unit together with its product, quantity, and warehouse or site location. Visibility of the report depends on your assigned role and site scope.
